I've worked in many different organisations and settings in project and programme management as well as portfolio operations and governance. I am passionate about helping to make sure the best science can get done.

From positions deeply embedded in organisations and working across different teams I've helped define or refine and implement strategy, developed supporting policies and procedures, implemented the necessary structures, and focussed on getting teams aligned around the big picture while helping them adapt to change.

• I've spent the relatively largest part of my working life in biotech / techbio startups, and most of that time in startups that aim to apply AI approaches to drug discovery in different ways along the way, from target finding through early drug discovery stages to clinical development.

• The second longest time was around data infrastructure at EMBL-EBI, in positions with both wide and deep views across and into the workings, and at the centre of making large and diverse international collaborations work.

• The third longest was in operations in the U.S. Antarctic Program, which taught me early on how to focus on making sure things work when needed, and how to plan for this. It also taught me that a few stars won’t make a complex operation work: that truly needs everyone.

• The fourth was at European XFEL and related large research infrastructures, deeply involved in international, ministerial-level governance processes and (seriously) long-term strategy and planning.
